I've just finished Perfume by Patrick Suskind (should be an umlaut [?] over the u there, but I haven't got one handy). I've been reading it avidly for a couple of days now whenever possible at all - so it must be very gripping - and yet, having finished it, it's really hard to say much at all...a really interesting little 'life' of a bizarre character (think Steerpike from Gormenghast) and some beautiful descriptions of smells...but ultimately I feel like it lacked...some sort of point...odd one really, I don't know what sort of point it could have had. Ummm. : )
