Anti-Climax
My last day of compulsory education saw the infamous leavers' assembly. This is what happened:
noise noise noise "QUIET!!!" noise noise "sexiest bum" questionnaire noise muffins muffins orange-juice-on-the-floor guitars drums NOISE ears bleeding noise noise teachers groaning synchronised worshipping of the school band NOISE doing the conga noise people crying hugging dancing NOISE NOISE NOISE....
It went on in a similar way until I had had enough of the lead singer gyrating against the microphone stand, and exploded out into the rain, ears ringing.
Am I meant to be sad? I feel slightly numb, but definitely not sad. Nor do I feel elated at all. After eleven years, what an anti-climax! The purposeless nature of my summer will hit me after the leavers' prom, when I have nothing to do for ten weeks but idle around, and make clouds look like sheep with bowler hats and muffins without the sticky out muffin bits which spill over the paper muffin holders when they're in the oven...
*sigh*
